The last thing our Tiny Tornado needs is energy! But these are too good to resist! BUT, fair warning!! These have appropriately been named "Tornado Balls" at our house due to the "extra" energy they provided our little one! Serve with caution :)
Tornado Balls
1 1/4 c. Organic Old Fashioned Oats
1/2 c. Creamy Peanut Butter
1/4 c. Local Honey
1/4c. - 1/3 c. Semi-Sweet Mini Chocolate Chips
1/4c. - 1/3 c. Mini M&Ms
Ground Cinnamon & Sugar to taste, optional
DIrections
Add first 5 ingredients to large bowl. Top with Cinnamon and Sugar, if desired. Mix together. Using small spoon, form small round balls and place on baking sheet with parchment paper. Occasionally rinse hands with water to keep ingredients from sticking and to help shape the balls. Stick in freezer for 15 mins, move to fridge for easy access. Done!!
Additional Notes
For recipes with peanut butter, I have found Jiff Creamy (Regular) works best! In our Tornado Balls I used a 1/3 c. of Mini Chocolate Chips, as well as a 1/3 c. M&Ms. You can use a little more, or less, if you like. I use McCormicks Cinnamon & Sugar Grinder for toast in the morning and it works great for added flavor in recipes like this one.
You can easily include additional ingredients like toasted almonds and/coconut flakes, chia seeds, etc. If adding several options, you may need to adjust the peanut butter and oats to get the right balance. The mixture should be easy to mix by hand.
Other Options:
1 Tbsp Chia Seeds
2/3 Toasted Coconut, Unsweetened
